ENTREPRENEURSHIP, THE NEXT BIG MOVE FOR AFRICA

<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;">&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The consequences of slavery&comma; geography and colonialism&semi; lackof self confidence among African Entrepreneurs and risk-averse managers are major factors militating against the development of entrepreneurs on the continent”-Former President John Agyekum Kuffour&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;">Africans must overcome all these limitations and come up with innovative ideas and skills to redeem the African continent from poverty&period; To move Africa to the next level of socio-econom￾ic development&semi; businessmen&comma; politicians and students must take the risk to start up businesses to employ people&period; Statistics shows that 48&percnt; of Ghanaians are unemployed&period; This is an alarming figure with unmeasurable consequences&period; Global North countries such as the United States&comma; Italy&comma; Germany&comma; Spain and France are controlling the world as a result of their initiatives&period; Individual businessmen and women have taken the initiative to create ideas and innovations that rule the world&period; For instance&comma; Facebook which most of us enjoy&comma; was an initiative of a college student Mark Zuckberberg&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;">The unemployment rate in Africa is high and I believe that as a youth&comma; when we step out of school with no jobs&comma; we can start our own business to employ others&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;">Africa is in need of people to take the bull by the horn and trans￾form the world &period;Instead of seeking greener pastures elsewhere&comma; why not come together and build businesses to employ people thus reducing the rate of unemployment&period; We can’t always depend on the Western World&comma; we need to tap into our resources and realize the potentials we have to help create an atmosphere that will enhance entrepreneurship in Africa&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;">We need to invest into the agricultural&comma; engineering and technical sector and the other various sectors that could help reduce unemployment in Africa&period; If only corruption and bureaucratic tendencies can be dealt with in the service sector &comma; that African will be a wonderful place to be&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p style&equals;"text-align&colon; left&semi;">Africa&comma; will rise again but it depends on you and I&period; Let’s join hands together and build this great continent&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Jennifer Akyeampong &lpar;MSM writer&rpar;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
