On 12th May, 2023, I joined my good friend Prof. A. Ambikapathy, Professor and Head of Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at the Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology, India, in their international conference as a keynote speaker.
The conference was held under the theme, “3rd IEEE International Conference on Advance Computing and Innovative Technologies in Engineering”.
Speaking at the conference, my keynote address is as highlighted below:
WE NEED TO TAKE KEEN INTEREST IN PREDICTING FUTURE GLOBAL HAPPENINGS AND TRENDS.
I admonish all to take a keen interest in predicting future global happenings and trends. This will be the only way to secure the future and also mitigate or reduce global shocks in all areas.
Advance computing and innovative technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, etc will make this achievable. Scientists, researchers, engineers and academics should take keen interest in future global predictions, happenings and trends. This will be an imperative tool in all facets of life including healthcare, energy, climate change, security, among others.
With these predictions, stakeholders across the globe will be able to make relevant decisions to mitigate and reduce the shock from global adverse happenings.
We all saw the adversative effects of Covid-19 and how it shook nations, global economies amongst others. We also saw the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war and its current hostile effects on global economies. This is to mention but a few occurrences depicting the reason we need to take this subject seriously and work on it with all sense of urgency with all our hearts and minds.
The World Energy Council worked on the ‘Visionario Project’ which will aid in shaping global energy transition and climate change. The project which was in three phases: MAP, GAP and ZAP phases, predicted future happenings in the global energy sector from now until 2050. It identified the disruptors and proposed solutions in this regard.
My most recently academic publication predicted the economic value of power outages and its impact on Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). These are existing works the sort to fill in this gap.
We should aim at doing more to save our society and world.
This may look impossible but remember that most of the things we are having and enjoying today seemed impossible yesterday. Years back who would have thought we could travel in the air?
Who would have thought I would be in the United States and address you in India? Let’s put our mind to it to make it happen. The world depends on you and I to make it a better place.
